about the Ferrari 488

There are not many sports car brands that have earned a reputation like that of Ferrari. The Maranello-based factory, with its mostly red super sports cars, is considered the dream factory among automobile enthusiasts.  Driving a Ferrari can only be compared to flying, say connoisseurs and admirers.

It is not surprising that such an extraordinary company has an equally special story to tell. Unlike other car manufacturers, it did not start out as a company in the true sense of the word – but as a racing team. The ‚ Scuderia Ferrari ‚ was founded in 1929 by the aspiring racing driver Enzo Anselmo Ferrari in order to finance his own racing activities. As the later founder, he had been active in the Italian motorsport scene for several years and now tried to intensify his efforts.

After the end of the war in 1945, the production of racing cars began again in the new halls. The Ferrari 125C was the first car to officially bear the name of the founder and competed in various European competitions. Among them was an event that was still in its infancy at the time – Formula 1. The 125 was also the first car to be sold to private customers for financing purposes.

This idea, born out of necessity, developed into what is now the Scuderia’s most important mainstay. They began to develop road cars that were designed to stand out with their unusual styling. Companies such as Pininfarina and Scaglietti were commissioned to design the new cars and made the cars icons of their time.  Driving a Ferrari  was worth a lot of money to the rich and famous and soon made sales more lucrative than the racing business. The foundation for future success was laid.

The current mid-engine weapon – the Ferrari 488 GTB – puts a whopping 720 hp on the crankshaft with its two turbochargers and leaves every driver with sweaty hands at well over 330 km/h …
